Saturday Errands in Heels
A couple of months ago, me and some girlfriends went to an 80s dance all decked out in flamboyant 80s attire.
For the occasion, one of my French friends bought a poofy mesh skirt – you know, the kind that Madonna was known for. But my girlfriend bought it in hot pink. And it was a mini – she had the legs to rock it!
Last week, she and I went out for tea. And imagine how surprised I was when she told me she’d worn the skirt after the 80s party!
“Say what?!” I responded laughing. “Where did you wear it? Didn’t it feel silly?”
“To the grocery store,” she replied in her sex French accent. “And no, it didn’t feel silly. I paired it with black stiletto heels and a sleeveless tight black shirt. I felt amazing.”
I looked at her in awe. My mouth was actually open. It never would have crossed my mind to that. And I could totally imagine her pulling this off.
She continued, “There was a handsome older man in a suit who held the door open for me. He saw me coming across the parking lot and waited. I could tell he liked what he saw.” She laughed.
“Did you talk to him?” I asked. “Did he ask for your number?”
“No. I think he may have been married. I just enjoyed looking at him and vice versa.”
She waved her hand as if gently wiping him away. “It really wasn’t about trying to meet a man. I got dressed up because I wanted to feel like a woman and decided that today I’m doing to wear heels and a mini to the grocery store.” She laughed. “I’ll definitely do it again.”
And there you have it – Aphrodite in stilettos in a grocery store on a Saturday afternoon; priceless.
